What is Pepto bismol?

Pepto bismol contains salicylic acid which is a bit similar to aspirin. It actually works by reducing the growth of bacteria that might be responsible for causing diarrhea.

Also, remember that the amount of dosage will depend upon the size of the dog. A dosage of 15 mL four to six times per day may be used to treat a 30 pound dog. If your dog is pregnant, lactating or is allergic to aspirin use with your vet’s recommendation only.

  • Kidney failure
  • Dark colored tongue
  • Dark colored stools
  • An interference with readings of abdominal X-Rays
